You shouldn't have two separate Java applications accessing the same
database at the same time unless they're both read only apps. If you have an
updating app then it must have exclusive access.

Separate threads within the same app are OK. InstantDB will handle the table
locking and control access to multiple connections and/or threads, but they
must all be within the same Java Virtual Machine, i.e. there's only been one
Java command line being executed at any one time.

Make idb.jar and RmiJdbc.jar Java extensions by putting them in the
/jre/lib/ext directory or modify you security policy to allow read access
to the above property. See
