just wondering how others out there handle the situation whereby you need to
change your data model (using dods), but also need to preserve your existing
data?

do you export all the data out of the table (data object) that needs to be
changed and then try to import the data (as best as possible) into the newly
created table?

are there any tools that can help with this process?
