Is there any way I can get all of the benefits of a shutdown,
without shutting down?
I have a database that is constantly being added to, and read from.
It is never deleted from, if that matters.
As time goes on, access speed continues to degrade. I suspect that this
has something to do with the relationship between shutdown and the
indexes. I can restore the speed by shutting the database down and
restarting, but I want as close to 24 * 7 * 365 availability as I can
get.
Anyone have any hints, insights, or suggestions?
PS I am anxiously awaiting the source release.
