I am having a similar problem - my servlet runs perfectly well unser
JRun2.0 and 3.0 (on NT),
but when I port it to my website Apache/Linux I get the same error

[DBService] ERROR connectToDatabase Throwable:
java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: javax/transaction/xa/XAException
I tried downloading the JDBC Standard Extension Binary 2.0 from Sun,
while it has XADataSource and XAConnection - it does not have XAException.
I have searched JRun's packages and it's not to be found there.
Does anyone have any idea where to get this class (and presumably it's
package).

David

Bret, I don't have jta spec url but it's easy to find
on Sun's www.javasoft.com.
btw, I renamed my O-R mapping system to Osage (that's
my wife's tribe) so it's at osage.sourceforge.com.
Give it a look if you have some time. Be sure to use
CVS. My distro is old.
I like InstantDB, nice litte database. In CVS, I
included an sql1.txt for the example to help InstantDB
users.
