InstantDB: problems installing instantdb

the instructions for installing instantdb do not work.

part one is ok and the 3 directories ( classes, examples, functions ) get created.

however when i run "java -Xms16m -Xmx32m sample", no other directories get created and i get various compile time errors including some which appear to indicate that classes are not in the correct packages.

any suggestions?
