Thanks for your reply.
Yes, I'm afraid that I did access the database from 2 different applications 
at the same time (and the worst part is that I didn't really need that at 
the time!): from the browser bundled with InstantDB installation and from 
the EJB server. That worked once but the next time the browser still reads 
the db fine but jBoss wouldn't.
Does this narrow down the problem?
How do I fix it?
