InstantDB: InstantDB

Title: InstantDB

Dear all,

I have a web application runs on Tomcat version 3.1 (WinNT4.0 service pack 6).
This application uses 2 database connections (so there is only 1 JVM)
to InstantDB version 3.26.

I once had the database suddenly could not be connected.
I got an SQLException with no description when the application tried to create a database connection to the database. After doing some tracing, it seems that an inconsistency happened

in the system file idb$db$Cols.tbl. There was no other way to recover than reinitializing
the database causing the existing data to lose.

* Do you guys have some idea, what situations that might make the
  database corrupted?
* Is there a way to recover such corrupted database, so that we still
  can retain/save the existing data?

Thank you very much for your help,
Tony
